For nearly 17 years Matt has been creating custom master pieces for people all across the country.
Going to college for his degree in architecture Matt quickly realized that he needed something more hands on than just simply design. Starting out in the construction industry he took his love for design and headed in a different direction allowing him to work with his hands as part of the physical creation of his designs.
After some time in the construction industry Matt was given his first table saw and his love for wood working would never be the same. Wanting to create things more personalized than what he was able to create as a general contractor Matt established Matthew Shober Artisan Woodworks allowing him the creative freedom to craft beautifully detailed heirloom quality furniture for private clientele.
Matt has a passion and respect for the trees that provide the wood that he works with. He finds appreciation in every board’s uniqueness, its beautiful independent grain never to be repeated in nature again. Matt feels it to be a blessing to be the first to see the story of a tree in the picture that it creates through its grain as it is sawn into usable slabs.
Having the ability to customize his projects to each client’s personality and interests gives not only himself but, most importantly, the customer a bond between them and the project. As a provider of the craft Matt understands that, because of the involvement that a client has, each hand crafted piece that he creates and sells to a customer is so much more meaningful to them than if they were to just go to the store and purchase a rubber-stamped, mass-production piece spat out of a factory.
